Why escrow protects you

Your filing fee is held by BDO, one of the world's leading audit and advisory networks, in a segregated escrow account. TariffBack cannot access those funds until CBP confirms your refund. If no refund is issued, your fee is returned in full.

How CBP Pays Your Refund

All IEEPA refunds are paid electronically by U.S. Customs and Border Protection — directly into your US bank account via ACH transfer.

📋

1. CAPE Filing

Your refund claim is submitted through CBP's CAPE portal in ACE as a CSV of eligible entry numbers. CBP runs a two-round validation on each entry.

2. CBP Approval

CBP reviews and approves each claim line. Approved entries are queued for payment. Both the principal duty amount and accrued interest are included in your refund.

🏦

3. US Bank Account Required

CBP issues all refunds via ACH to a US bank account on file in your ACE Portal profile. Paper checks are not issued. If your ACH enrollment is missing or incorrect, CBP places the payment in reject status until resolved.

💸

4. ACH Transfer

Once approved, funds hit your bank account within 60–90 days of filing. Refunds started going out as early as May 12, 2026 — some importers have already received payment.

⚠️

A common reason refunds get stuck: missing or outdated ACH bank info in ACE. Before filing, your ACE profile must have a valid US bank account enrolled for refunds. We verify this as part of every audit — so your payment goes through the first time.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much will this cost?

+
Pricing is tiered by your refund size: up to $20K refund = $1,500 flat; $20K–$100K = $5,000 flat; $100K–$500K = 5%; above $500K = 3%. Your filing fee is placed in BDO escrow at the time of filing and released to TariffBack only once your CBP refund arrives. No refund means your fee is returned in full.

What is the escrow process?

+
When you lock in your claim, your filing fee goes into a BDO-managed escrow account — not to TariffBack. BDO holds it until your CBP refund is processed and confirmed. Once your refund arrives, BDO releases the fee to us and the rest goes to you. We are never paid before you are.

What if no refund is issued?

+
If CBP determines no refund is owed, your full filing fee is returned from escrow. You risk nothing.

Do you need my actual tariff data?

+
We need read-only access to your ACE account. You control the access via the CBP system — you can revoke it anytime. We never download or store your data on our servers.

What if I'm not ACE registered yet?

+
No problem — we help. Most companies complete ACE registration in 1–2 weeks with our guidance. You can lock in your claim now and we'll walk you through ACE registration as the next step.

What's the difference between Phase 1 and Phase 2?

+
Phase 1 (80 days from entry liquidation): file via CBP CAPE portal — straightforward, 60–90 day refund. Phase 2 (after 80 days): requires a formal CBP protest — complex, longer timeline. Our audit tells you exactly which path applies to each of your entries.

How long does filing take?

+
CAPE filing takes 1–2 weeks. CBP processes refunds in 60–90 days. Phase 2 protests take longer depending on CBP workload.

Can I see a sample audit before committing?

+
Yes. We show a real anonymized audit on this page. Every audit follows the same format — 100% reconciled, entry-by-entry, Phase 1 vs Phase 2 split clearly shown.
